PHOENIX — The Phoenix Suns will be without All-Star guard Devin Booker for a minimum of one week after he sustained a right hip strain during Thursday’s matchup with the San Antonio Spurs, the club announced Saturday ahead of its home game against the Orlando Magic.
Booker, 29, is posting averages of 24.7 points, 6.1 assists and 3.9 rebounds across 44 appearances this season. The injury arrives shortly after the guard missed seven consecutive contests because of a sprained right ankle.
The Suns also provided an update on newly signed guard Haywood Highsmith. The team said Highsmith continues to rehabilitate from right knee surgery performed last offseason, is “making good progress,” and is scheduled for another evaluation in two to three weeks.
Phoenix enters Saturday with a 32-24 record but has dropped four of its last five games while navigating a string of injuries.
