Suns’ Booker ruled out vs. Lakers with groin injury

The Phoenix Suns announced that Devin Booker was ruled out of Monday night’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers after suffering a right groin injury.

The three-time All-Star left the floor after the first 10 minutes of the opening quarter, during which Phoenix trailed 27-26. Before departing, Booker scored 11 points on 4-for-7 shooting and added three assists and two rebounds.

Booker had appeared in each of the Suns’ first 21 games, leading the team with averages of 25.7 points and 6.9 assists.

Following his exit, Phoenix outscored Los Angeles 35-21 in the second period to take a 66-52 advantage into halftime.

The Suns arrived in Los Angeles with a 12-9 record under first-year head coach Jordan Ott, holding the No. 7 spot in the Western Conference standings.
