STOCKTON, Calif. — The Stockton Kings used the 29th selection of the first round in Saturday’s NBA G League draft to take guard Jabri Abdur-Rahim, the son of G League president and former NBA All-Star Shareef Abdur-Rahim.
The 6-foot-7 Abdur-Rahim joined Sacramento’s NBA Summer League squad earlier this year. He finished his college career at Providence after three seasons at Georgia and one at Virginia, compiling a 7.9-point average across 123 games.
Shareef Abdur-Rahim, who won Olympic gold in 2000 and made the NBA All-Star team in 2002, totaled just over 15,000 points during a 12-year playing career and has led the G League since 2018.
The draft opened with Weber State forward Dillon Jones going first overall to the South Bay Lakers. Temple guard Jamal Mashburn Jr., son of former NBA All-Star Jamal Mashburn, was selected eighth by the Westchester Knicks and later traded to the Grand Rapids Gold.
