INGLEWOOD, Calif. — Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry said Sunday he will return to the NBA Three-Point Contest during All-Star weekend in Phoenix in 2027, ending a six-year absence from the event.
Curry made the announcement on NBC during the 2026 All-Star Game at SoFi Stadium, where he was sidelined with a knee injury. The two-time winner added that he hopes to convince former teammate Klay Thompson to join the field.
The 35-year-old guard last competed in the contest in 2021 in Atlanta, when he claimed his second title. His first victory came in 2015 in New York. Thompson earned the trophy in 2016 in Toronto.
Curry said Damian Lillard’s triumph in Saturday’s contest in Los Angeles — Lillard’s third overall — helped inspire his decision. Another win would give Curry three titles, matching Lillard, Larry Bird and Craig Hodges for the most in event history.
The NBA’s career leader in made three-pointers has topped the league in makes eight times. He is shooting 39.1% from long range this season.
