PORTLAND, Ore. — San Antonio Spurs guard Dylan Harper said he expects to be available Wednesday night against the Portland Trail Blazers, ending a 10-game absence caused by a strained left calf.

The 19-year-old told the San Antonio Express-News during the team’s morning shootaround at Moda Center that he intends to play. Harper has been sidelined since Nov. 2, when he was hurt while contesting a Nick Richards dunk in a loss at Phoenix. An MRI later confirmed the calf strain.

Selected No. 2 overall in June, Harper averaged 14.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists over his first six NBA games, shooting 50 percent from the floor and 35.7 percent from three-point range. Head coach Gregg Popovich plans to bring the rookie off the bench in his return.

Forward Victor Wembanyama (calf) and guard Stephon Castle (hip flexor strain) remain out. Both players are expected to be reevaluated soon as they progress toward their own comebacks.
