Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards is expected to miss roughly two weeks after suffering a right hamstring strain, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The injury occurred in the opening quarter of Sunday’s 114-110 win over the Indiana Pacers in Minneapolis. Edwards exited after completing a hard-fought fast-break layup 3:07 into the game, absorbing contact and looking for a foul call that never came. One second later, the Pacers called timeout, and Bones Hyland checked in for Edwards. The Timberwolves soon announced he would not return.
Initially labeled as hamstring tightness by the team, the severity of the strain became clearer after further evaluation. Head coach Chris Finch offered no additional details during his postgame comments.
Edwards, a three-time All-Star now in his sixth NBA season, has appeared in 426 of a possible 445 games, including postseason contests.
