Wembanyama Expected Back for Spurs in NBA Cup Semifinal vs. Thunder

San Antonio — Victor Wembanyama is on track to play in Saturday’s NBA Cup semifinal against the Oklahoma City Thunder in Las Vegas, according to sources who spoke with ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The 7-foot-4 forward will receive final medical clearance after the Spurs complete practice on Friday. Wembanyama has been sidelined since Nov. 14 with a left calf strain but participated in multiple full-court, 5-on-5 workouts earlier this week.
San Antonio has gone 9-3 during his absence, winning its final two group-stage games and defeating the Los Angeles Lakers in Wednesday’s quarterfinal. In his third NBA season, Wembanyama is averaging career bests of 26.2 points, 12.9 rebounds and 4.0 assists.
