The Golden State Warriors anticipate that Stephen Curry will be sidelined for about one week after suffering a quad contusion, according to sources who spoke with ESPN’s Shams Charania and Anthony Slater.
The injury occurred in the closing minutes of Wednesday night’s 104-100 home defeat to the Houston Rockets. Curry limped following several fourth-quarter collisions and exited with 35.2 seconds left after consulting with director of sports medicine Rick Celebrini.
Head coach Steve Kerr said he felt “relieved” upon learning the issue was limited to Curry’s quad. “Better than an ankle or a knee,” Kerr told reporters after the game.
The Warriors complete their current homestand against the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday and the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday. Wednesday’s loss dropped Golden State to 10-10 after opening the season 4-1. In the aftermath, both Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green criticized the team’s recent defensive performance.
