DETROIT — Guard Cade Cunningham is expected to be back in the Detroit Pistons’ lineup Wednesday night when the club hosts the Milwaukee Bucks, sources told ESPN.

The 24-year-old has been sidelined for 11 games after suffering a collapsed left lung on March 17 against the Washington Wizards. During his absence, Detroit posted an 8-3 record and secured home-court advantage throughout the Eastern Conference playoffs last Saturday.

Early projections had Cunningham missing the remainder of the regular season, with a possible return limited to practices ahead of the postseason, which opens April 18. Instead, he has been upgraded from doubtful and is now on track to play in the final three regular-season contests.

If Cunningham appears in all three games, he will finish the season with 64—one shy of the 65-game threshold required for eligibility in most postseason awards. The league’s collective bargaining agreement, however, includes an “extraordinary circumstances challenge” that allows an independent arbitrator—jointly selected by the NBA and the NBPA—to review such cases, potentially preserving his award consideration.

Through 34.4 minutes per game this season, Cunningham is averaging 24.5 points, 9.9 assists, 5.6 rebounds and 1.5 steals.
