Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokić is expected to rejoin the lineup Friday night when Denver hosts the LA Clippers, sources told ESPN. The two-time MVP has been out since Dec. 29 with a bone bruise in his hyperextended left knee.

According to the sources, Jokić also intends to play Sunday at home against the Oklahoma City Thunder, keeping him eligible for end-of-season honors such as MVP and All-NBA.

The 6-foot-11 star was injured during the first half of a Dec. 29 loss to the Miami Heat. Before the setback, he ranked fifth in the league in scoring at 29.6 points per game and led the NBA with 16 triple-doubles. He is averaging career highs of 11.0 assists and 43% from three-point range.

Denver went 10-6 during Jokić’s 16-game absence, the longest stretch he has missed in any season of his career.
