Orlando Magic forward Paolo Banchero will miss Friday night’s matchup against the Brooklyn Nets because of a left groin strain, according to league sources who spoke with ESPN’s Shams Charania.
An MRI performed Thursday confirmed the strain, which occurred during the first half of Wednesday’s win over the New York Knicks. The team will evaluate Banchero on a day-to-day basis, the sources said.
The reigning Rookie of the Year is averaging 21.7 points, 8.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists through the first 10 games of the season. Orlando, which opened the schedule 1-4, has won five of its last seven contests.
