Los Angeles Clippers center Ivica Zubac is expected to miss multiple weeks after sustaining a Grade 2 sprain of his left ankle, according to sources who spoke with ESPN’s Shams Charania on Sunday.
The injury occurred late in the first quarter of Saturday’s 103–88 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers at Crypto.com Arena. Zubac collapsed to the floor on a drive, immediately limped to the locker room, and did not return. He finished the night with five points and two rebounds in 11 minutes, while Brook Lopez took over the minutes at center.
Through the win, the 28-year-old big man was averaging 16.0 points and 11.5 rebounds this season. Prior to tipoff, Lakers center Jaxson Hayes praised Zubac’s impact, calling him “one of the most slept-on bigs in the league.”
The Clippers have not announced an official timetable, but Grade 2 sprains typically require several weeks of recovery.
