Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been sidelined for Sunday’s matchup with the Utah Jazz because of left elbow bursitis, the team said Saturday.

The absence will be the first of the season for Gilgeous-Alexander and for the 22-1 Thunder. The reigning NBA MVP is averaging 32.8 points, 6.4 assists and 4.7 rebounds while shooting 54% from the field. He poured in 33 points through three quarters during Friday’s win over the Dallas Mavericks.

Gilgeous-Alexander has scored at least 20 points in 95 consecutive regular-season games, the second-longest streak in league history, trailing only Wilt Chamberlain’s run of 126 from 1961-63.

After visiting Salt Lake City, Oklahoma City will have two days off before hosting the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday.
