NEW YORK — The NBA on Monday imposed $35,000 fines on Memphis Grizzlies guard Scotty Pippen Jr. and Miami Heat forward Myron Gardner for their involvement in a late-game scuffle over the weekend.
The incident occurred with 1:55 left in the fourth quarter of Miami’s 136–120 home win on Saturday. Gardner bumped Pippen from behind, sending the guard to the floor. Pippen responded by jogging up the court and delivering a forceful two-handed shove, sparking a melee that spilled into the seats with 1:19 remaining.
Game officials assessed technical fouls to both players and ejected them from the contest. No further discipline was announced beyond the monetary penalties.
