MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota Timberwolves center Naz Reid and Atlanta Hawks forward Mouhamed Gueye were ejected early in the fourth quarter after a brief altercation that marred the Timberwolves’ 138-116 win on Monday night.

The confrontation began when Gueye appeared to trip Reid beneath the basket. Reid sprang to his feet and confronted Gueye, triggering pushing and shoving that drew in players, coaches and arena staff. Amid the scrum, Atlanta center Jock Landale was knocked to the floor, and Reid briefly cocked his arm as if to throw a punch, though no punches were delivered.

Officials assessed Gueye with a foul on the play and, following a lengthy video review, issued double technical fouls and ejected both players. Landale sustained scratches on his neck but remained in the game.

Reid departed with seven points and six rebounds. Minnesota’s victory snapped a two-game skid that included losses to New Orleans and the LA Clippers. Gueye finished with 10 points and seven rebounds off the bench for Atlanta.
