Forward Precious Achiuwa told the New York Post he struggled with a restricted role during his time with the New York Knicks and is embracing a greater sense of “freedom” after joining the Sacramento Kings.
In an exclusive interview published January 14, 2026, Achiuwa said he “lamented” how little latitude he received in New York but now feels empowered to play his natural game in Sacramento. Details about the exact changes in his responsibilities were not disclosed, yet the 24-year-old underscored that the Kings’ system allows him to “be myself on the floor.”
The Nigerian-born big man was acquired by Sacramento earlier this season. While the terms of his move were not covered in the interview, Achiuwa emphasized that the fresh start has already improved his confidence and on-court performance.
Achiuwa added that he holds no ill will toward the Knicks organization, describing his time in New York as a “learning experience,” but said the opportunity to expand his game under Kings head coach Mike Brown has been “refreshing.”
With Sacramento in playoff contention, Achiuwa said he is focused on contributing however he can, whether through rebounding, defense, or occasional scoring. “I just want to help us win,” he told the newspaper.
