Atlanta Hawks center Kristaps Porzingis will sit out Monday’s matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder but has moved to a day-to-day status as he continues to recover from an illness, league sources told ESPN on Sunday.
The 7-foot-3 veteran, sidelined for the past two weeks, will remain in Atlanta and will not travel with the team. The Hawks dropped their sixth consecutive game on Saturday, falling to the New York Knicks, and stand at 15-18.
Porzingis, 30, is averaging 19.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.6 blocks across 13 appearances this season, numbers Atlanta hopes will bolster its frontcourt once he returns.
While playing for the Boston Celtics last season, Porzingis was diagnosed with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), a disorder affecting the autonomic nervous system. After working with doctors over the summer, he entered this season saying he felt healthy and confident.
The illness hampered him during the 2024 postseason, when he averaged 7.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 21 minutes in 11 playoff games for Boston.
