A newly released police report shows officers warned that NBA forward Dillon Brooks was at risk of causing a “catastrophic collision” when they cited him for reckless driving only weeks before his recent arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence.

According to the document, officers described Brooks’ behavior behind the wheel as “erratic” and serious enough to endanger other motorists. The report adds that the roadway maneuvers they observed prompted immediate concern for public safety, leading to the reckless-driving citation.

Several weeks later, Brooks was taken into custody on DUI charges during a separate traffic stop. Details of the DUI incident were not included in the newly filed report, but investigators noted the earlier citation when documenting the subsequent arrest.

Brooks, 30, is an eight-year NBA veteran best known for his defensive play and outspoken persona. Court proceedings related to the DUI case are pending. Representatives for the player did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
