The Detroit Pistons listed All-Star point guard Cade Cunningham as doubtful for Monday night’s matchup with the Orlando Magic, a key step toward his first appearance since suffering a collapsed left lung on March 19.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Cunningham, 24, has entered the league’s return-to-play protocol after more than two weeks of recovery. Including Monday’s contest, Detroit has four regular-season games remaining.

Team officials are optimistic the former No. 1 overall pick could be available before the postseason begins. The Pistons already locked up the Eastern Conference’s top seed by defeating the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday.

Prior to the injury, Cunningham averaged 24.5 points and 9.9 assists and was drawing MVP consideration while leading the league’s most dominant team in the East.
