INDIANAPOLIS — The Detroit Pistons captured their 13th straight victory on Monday night, defeating the Indiana Pacers 122-117 and tying the longest winning streak in team history.

The run equals the marks set by Detroit’s championship groups of 1990 and 2004. At 15-2, this season’s roster now owns the best record in the Eastern Conference, a dramatic shift for a club that began the 2023-24 campaign 3-36 and finished that year with only 14 wins.

Cade Cunningham led the way with 24 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. Jalen Duren contributed 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Caris LeVert added 19 points.

Guard Jaden Ivey, sidelined since fracturing his fibula in January, returned to action Saturday and logged 12 points in 12 minutes against Indiana under a minutes restriction.

Detroit built an 18-point cushion in the fourth quarter before Indiana, dealing with multiple injuries and off to a 2-15 start after last season’s NBA Finals appearance, narrowed the gap. “We shouldn’t have allowed them to get back into the game like that,” Cunningham said. “We’ll watch the film, learn from it and get better.”

The Pistons will try to set a new franchise record Wednesday night when they face the Boston Celtics in an NBA Cup contest at TD Garden.
