Philadelphia Radio Host Apologizes After Accusing Joel Embiid of Faking Illness

A Philadelphia sports radio host issued a public apology on Friday, April 10, 2026, for suggesting that 76ers center Joel Embiid was pretending to be sick.
Speaking on air, the host retracted earlier comments that questioned the legitimacy of Embiid’s reported illness and acknowledged that the accusation was unfounded. “I feel like an idiot,” the host said while addressing listeners.
The on-air mea culpa came shortly after Embiid’s absence from team activities had been confirmed as medically legitimate. The host conceded that the original claim was made without sufficient information and expressed regret to Embiid, the 76ers organization and the audience.
No further disciplinary action against the broadcaster has been announced. The 76ers have not publicly responded to the apology.
