SALT LAKE CITY – New Orleans forward Zion Williamson exited Saturday night’s 115-105 victory over the Utah Jazz after injuring his right ankle midway through the second quarter, the team said.

Interim head coach James Borrego told reporters Williamson “tweaked the ankle” and had no immediate timetable for his return. “Hopefully, it’s nothing serious, and we’ll have him back out there very soon,” Borrego added.

The two-time All-Star had logged 11 minutes, recording four points, two assists and one rebound before heading to the locker room. The appearance was his 35th consecutive game, the longest streak of his NBA career, stretching back to Dec. 11 after a five-game absence because of a right hip adductor strain.

Injuries have limited the 2019 No. 1 overall pick to 258 of 543 possible regular-season games. He missed the entire 2021-22 campaign with a broken right foot and has already sat out 16 contests this season for various reasons.

New Orleans was already without Trey Murphy (right shoulder), Yves Missi (left calf) and Dejounte Murray (reconditioning). Despite the depleted lineup, the Pelicans secured the road win behind a balanced effort.
