Denver Nuggets center Jonas Valanciunas will miss at least four weeks after suffering a right calf strain, the team announced Thursday.
The injury occurred with 4:03 remaining in the third quarter of Wednesday’s 106-103 victory over the Toronto Raptors. Valanciunas, facing his former club, finished the night with 17 points and nine rebounds in 23 minutes before limping to the locker room.
Valanciunas serves as the primary backup to Nikola Jokic, who hyperextended his left knee in Monday’s loss to the Miami Heat and is also scheduled for a four-week reevaluation.
Denver’s injury list already includes starters Aaron Gordon (hamstring), Christian Braun (ankle) and Cam Johnson (knee), leaving the defending champions without four rotation players for at least the next month.
