Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray is considered day-to-day after spraining his left ankle during Friday night’s loss to the New York Knicks, according to sources who spoke with ESPN’s Tim MacMahon.
The injury occurred just before halftime at Ball Arena when Murray stepped back onto teammate Nikola Jokić’s right foot. The 29-year-old immediately fell to the court clutching his ankle and did not return. Teammate Jonas Valančiūnas helped him to the locker room.
Testing performed over the weekend did not reveal significant damage, the sources said. Murray is expected to be listed as questionable for Monday’s road matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Murray, a first-time All-Star this season, is averaging 25.5 points, 7.2 assists and 4.3 rebounds.
The Nuggets fell to the Knicks on Friday and enter Monday’s game at 42-23.
