DENVER — The Denver Nuggets will be without forward Christian Braun for at least six weeks after he suffered a left ankle sprain during Wednesday night’s victory over the Los Angeles Clippers, the team announced Friday.

The injury occurred in the opening quarter when Clippers guard James Harden stepped on Braun’s right foot, forcing Braun to land awkwardly on his left. The 23-year-old briefly returned in the second quarter but was visibly limited and did not appear after halftime. Subsequent testing confirmed the sprain, and the club said Braun will be re-evaluated in six weeks.

Denver is slated to play 17 games during Braun’s recovery window. Through the Nuggets’ first 11 contests, the second-year wing averaged 11.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists while frequently drawing the assignment of guarding opponents’ top scorers.
