The Brooklyn Nets have reached a deal to bring guard Kobe Bufkin to Brooklyn, moving the former first-round selection out of Atlanta, according to the New York Post.
Exact terms of the transaction were not disclosed, but the agreement gives the Nets a chance to evaluate Bufkin two years after he entered the league as a highly regarded prospect. The 6-foot-4 guard was chosen in the first round by the Hawks and had been viewed as a potential backcourt mainstay.
Brooklyn’s front office is banking on Bufkin’s draft pedigree and upside to strengthen a roster that finished outside the top tier of the Eastern Conference last season. The Nets have prioritized youth and athleticism as they continue to reshape the team under head coach Jacque Vaughn.
The 15 September move marks the latest roster shuffle for Atlanta as well, with the Hawks continuing to adjust their lineup around star guard Trae Young.
