NEW YORK — The NBA has issued a one-game suspension without pay to Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks after he picked up his 16th technical foul of the season during Wednesday night’s loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

League rules mandate an automatic one-game ban when a player or coach reaches 16 technical fouls. Brooks will incur an additional suspension for every two technicals he accumulates the rest of the season.

The 30-year-old will sit out the Suns’ matchup with the San Antonio Spurs on Feb. 19.

In his first year with Phoenix, the 6-foot-7 forward is averaging a career-best 21.2 points per game and has been a vocal presence for a club that has opened the campaign 32-23.
