An NBA official was forced out of Friday night’s matchup between the Atlanta Hawks and the Brooklyn Nets after being struck by a roaming camera operator, the New York Post reported.
The unusual collision occurred courtside and temporarily halted play while trainers checked on the referee’s condition. After several minutes, the injured official was escorted to the locker room for further evaluation and did not return to the game.
The league has not yet released the referee’s name or details about the extent of the injury. No immediate disciplinary action against the camera operator was announced.
The game resumed shortly after the incident, with the remaining officiating crew handling duties for the rest of the contest.
