The halfway point of the 2025-26 season has arrived, and the Feb. 5 trade deadline (3 p.m. ET) is now 23 days away. ESPN’s panel of insiders — Anthony Slater, Dave McMenamin, Jamal Collier, Kevin Pelton, Michael C. Wright, Bobby Marks, Tim Bontemps, Tim MacMahon, Vincent Goodwill and Zach Kram — has re-evaluated all 30 clubs. Below is where every team stands this week, along with the most pertinent news for each franchise.

1. Oklahoma City Thunder (34-7) — unchanged

The league leaders welcome back 2024 first-rounder Nikola Topic, who returned to the court after completing chemotherapy for testicular cancer. Topic had been set to debut this season after an ACL rehab when the diagnosis was announced in October.

2. Detroit Pistons (28-10) — unchanged

Detroit just throttled New York by 30 and now enjoys four full days of rest. Cade Cunningham, Jalen Duren and Tobias Harris are all nursing injuries, while a $14 million trade exception gives the front office flexibility to pursue shooting or a secondary scorer.

3. San Antonio Spurs (27-13) — unchanged

Exhaustion is setting in after extensive travel and three straight back-to-backs to open January. Guards De’Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle and rookie Dylan Harper have labored, yet San Antonio remains firmly in the West’s top tier.

4. Denver Nuggets (27-13) — up three spots

Veteran minimum signee Tim Hardaway Jr. is averaging 13.8 points on career-best shooting splits and has been even better (16.7 ppg) while Nikola Jokić nurses a knee injury.

5. Minnesota Timberwolves (27-14) — up three

Rudy Gobert’s Defensive Player of the Year push faces a hurdle: the center served a one-game suspension Tuesday for flagrant-foul points and will be suspended again with each additional flagrant the rest of the season.

6. New York Knicks (25-14) — unchanged

Josh Hart returned from an ankle sprain and immediately helped snap a skid. Owner James Dolan has publicly demanded a Finals run, and the club is shopping for a backup big while gauging interest in forward Guerschon Yabusele.

7. Boston Celtics (24-15) — down three

Frustration is mounting after three losses in four games. Jaylen Brown criticized officiating, and coach Joe Mazzulla answered every postgame question with “illegal screen” following a narrow defeat in Indiana. Boston has slipped to third in the East.

8. Phoenix Suns (24-16) — up two

Surprise story Phoenix (preseason over/under 31.5 wins) is poised to add Jalen Green, who has appeared in only two games due to a hamstring strain but told Devin Booker on Instagram that his return is imminent.

9. Houston Rockets (23-14) — down four

Coach Ime Udoka called out the group for relying too heavily on 37-year-old Kevin Durant after a blown 13-point lead. Amen Thompson, Alperen Sengün (back after three games out) and rookie Reed Sheppard were put on notice.

10. Toronto Raptors (24-17) — up two

Jamal Shead and Collin Murray-Boyles keyed a comeback win over Philadelphia, but losses to Boston and Philadelphia on either side reinforce Toronto’s status as a fringe contender.

11. Philadelphia 76ers (22-16) — unchanged

Nine of the next 10 contests are at Wells Fargo Center. With only 13 of the final 34 games at home, this stretch is critical for a push into the East’s top four.

12. Cleveland Cavaliers (22-19) — up three

De’Andre Hunter sat the fourth quarter of a home loss to Utah amid his worst statistical season since his rookie year (13.9 ppg, 42.5% FG, 30% from three).

13. Los Angeles Lakers (24-14) — down four

Coach JJ Redick said Rui Hachimura will return from a right Achilles issue as a reserve. Jake LaRavia has averaged 13.8 points on 51.7% shooting while starting during Hachimura’s absence.

14. Golden State Warriors (22-19) — up two

De’Anthony Melton is closing games and creeping toward a starting role. Steve Kerr raised Melton’s minutes cap to 25 and expects to use 30-plus once doctors allow.

15. Orlando Magic (22-18) — down one

The club travels to Berlin and London for two matchups with Memphis. Moritz Wagner returned from last season’s ACL tear, and brother Franz Wagner is nearing a comeback from an ankle sprain.

16. Atlanta Hawks (20-22) — up two

The first three games after trading Trae Young were victories, but injuries piled up in a loss to the Lakers. Front-court size is a priority after allowing the eighth-most paint points and ranking 25th in rebound percentage.

17. Miami Heat (21-19) — down four

Miami halted a three-game skid by scoring 127 against Phoenix, but since Dec. 1 the Heat rank second-to-last in offensive efficiency. Bam Adebayo is averaging 14.5 points and shooting 28% from deep during that span.

18. Portland Trail Blazers (19-22) — up two

A five-game winning streak ended Sunday, and Deni Avdija missed Tuesday with back soreness. Jrue Holiday returned from a hamstring strain after nearly two months out.

19. LA Clippers (16-23) — down two

A 10-2 run has vaulted the injury-plagued Clippers back into the mix. Second-year guard Jordan Miller is shooting 55.1% overall and 45% from three in limited minutes off the bench.

20. Milwaukee Bucks (17-23) — up one

Milwaukee is 5-4 since Giannis Antetokounmpo came back but remains 11th in the East and one of six teams without a three-game winning streak this season.

21. Chicago Bulls (18-21) — down two

Rookie Matas Buzelis has stepped up with Josh Giddey hurt and Coby White sporadically available, averaging 19.8 points since Dec. 31.

22. Memphis Grizzlies (17-22) — unchanged

Memphis is listening to offers for Ja Morant after already parting with coach Taylor Jenkins and Desmond Bane in 2025. Youngsters Jaylen Wells, Zach Edey, Cedric Coward and Cam Spencer are getting longer looks.

23. Charlotte Hornets (14-26) — up one

LaMelo Ball came off the bench for the first time since his rookie year and topped 30 points, while a 55-point rout of Utah produced one of the largest wins ever by a sub-.500 team.

24. Dallas Mavericks (15-25) — down one

Naji Marshall is enjoying a career season, posting 13.6 points on 54% shooting and converting 60.7% of his drives to the rim.

25. Utah Jazz (14-25) — unchanged

Utah is 8-6 when Lauri Markkanen plays since Dec. 1 and winless in the six games he missed. The All-Star forward is averaging 27.9 points on 50.7% from the field in that period.

26. Brooklyn Nets (11-26) — unchanged

Brooklyn has dropped seven of eight after boasting the league’s best December defense. Rookie Egor Demin is hitting 53% of his threes on more than six attempts per game this month.

27. Sacramento Kings (10-30) — up one

Malik Monk, back in the rotation, recorded 15 and 26 points in consecutive upset victories. Sacramento has shopped Monk before and could do so again ahead of the deadline.

28. Indiana Pacers (9-31) — up two

A three-win week over Charlotte, Miami and Boston was Indiana’s best stretch of the season. The Pacers have hit at least 40% from deep in six straight games.

29. Washington Wizards (10-28) — down two

Newly acquired Trae Young remains out with a leg injury and has no return timetable. Washington is 7-8 since a 3-20 start and wants to keep its top-eight-protected 2026 first-round pick.

30. New Orleans Pelicans (9-33) — unchanged

New Orleans snapped a second nine-game slide by beating Washington, then fell at Orlando. The Pelicans have faced only one opponent outside the play-in picture since Christmas.

The rankings will be updated weekly as the trade market heats up and the playoff chase intensifies.
