Free agent guard Mike Conley Jr. plans to return to the Minnesota Timberwolves, according to sources cited by ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The 38-year-old veteran began the week on Minnesota’s roster but was dealt to the Chicago Bulls in a three-team agreement before the trade deadline. Chicago subsequently sent him to the Charlotte Hornets in a separate transaction, and Charlotte waived him shortly afterward.
Because Conley was traded a second time prior to being released, league rules allow him to re-sign with the Timberwolves immediately.
Conley is in his 19th NBA season. This year he has appeared in 44 games for Minnesota, starting nine, and is averaging career lows of 4.4 points and 2.9 assists per contest.
