New York Knicks head coach Mike Brown opened Saturday’s game with an oversized starting five, a move he said was directly tied to guard Miles McBride being unavailable.

Brown told reporters before tip-off that McBride’s absence removed a key perimeter option, prompting him to lean even more into his long-standing preference for length and physicality across the floor. “We want to stay true to what we believe in,” the coach said, noting that bigger lineups help with rebounding and defensive switching.

The shift pushed additional forwards into extended minutes while moving one of New York’s usual wings into backcourt duties. Brown added that the alignment could remain in place until McBride is cleared to return, though he emphasized that matchups will continue to dictate nightly rotations.

McBride, who has been a steady presence in the second unit, was ruled out earlier in the day. The team did not provide a timetable for his comeback.
