NEW YORK — Head coach Mike Brown said Sunday that the New York Knicks’ decision to pair Karl-Anthony Towns with Mitchell Robinson adds “a different dimension” to the team’s lineup.

Brown, speaking on Oct. 12, emphasized the complementary skill sets of the two big men. Towns brings versatile scoring from inside and beyond the arc, while Robinson is known for rim protection and rebounding. Brown believes combining those strengths could broaden New York’s offensive options and tighten its interior defense.

“Their games fit together in a way that makes it tough for opponents to prepare,” Brown noted, pointing to Towns’ shooting range and Robinson’s paint presence. He added that the tandem could open driving lanes for the Knicks’ backcourt and create mismatches in pick-and-roll situations.

Both players are expected to log significant minutes together as the Knicks continue preseason workouts. Brown said the coaching staff will monitor the partnership closely to fine-tune rotations ahead of the regular-season opener.
