Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. told the New York Post he has received threats since the NBA barred his brother, Jontay Porter, over a gambling scandal.
During the exclusive interview, published on Oct. 24 2025, Porter Jr. said he first learned of the league’s investigation earlier this year and has dealt with hostile messages ever since the punishment was announced. The 27-year-old added that he continues to support his brother while focusing on the upcoming season with the Nets.
The NBA banned Jontay Porter in April after determining he violated the league’s gambling policy. According to the Post, Michael Porter Jr. said he had no involvement in the betting scheme and was unaware of any wrongdoing until news broke publicly.
Porter Jr. acknowledged that the scandal has placed additional scrutiny on his own career but emphasized that he remains committed to his team and to helping his brother through the fallout.
