SAN FRANCISCO — Dallas Mavericks star Anthony Davis exited Friday’s Christmas Day matchup with the Golden State Warriors after suffering right groin spasms late in the second quarter and was ruled out before the second half began.
The injury occurred with 8:50 remaining in the period when Davis tried to sprint for a hit-ahead pass in transition. He immediately pulled up, signaled to the bench for a substitution and limped off the floor.
Dallas called a timeout, and team trainers escorted the 32-year-old forward to the locker room during the stoppage. Minutes later, the Mavericks announced he would not return.
Davis has battled multiple lower-body issues since arriving in the Luka Doncic trade last season. He missed 14 games earlier this year because of a left calf strain and sat out 18 contests in 2024-25 after an adductor strain in his team debut.
His exit marks the franchise’s second consecutive high-profile Christmas Day injury. Doncic strained his left calf on Dec. 25, 2024, in a loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, a game that ultimately became his last appearance for Dallas.
