On Sept. 28, 2025, veteran guard Malcolm Brogdon said he turned down interest from several NBA teams before deciding to join the New York Knicks, explaining that the franchise offers him what he called a “real shot” at winning a title.
Brogdon, 32, noted that other clubs pursued him during free agency but added that New York’s current roster and competitive outlook convinced him to commit to Madison Square Garden. “I had options,” he said. “But the Knicks are positioned to contend right now, and that’s exactly what I’m looking for.”
No contract figures were immediately disclosed, and the team has not commented publicly on the length or value of the agreement.
Brogdon averaged 15.7 points and 5.0 assists last season, numbers he believes can help push the Knicks deeper into the postseason. He joins a backcourt that already features Jalen Brunson and believes his experience can be “the missing piece” in New York’s championship push.
The Knicks are expected to open training camp next week, where Brogdon is slated to meet his new teammates and coaching staff.
