Orlando Magic guard Jalen Suggs will be out for an undetermined period after suffering a Grade 1 MCL contusion in his right knee during Friday night’s loss to the Chicago Bulls, the team said Saturday.
The Magic noted that the 24-year-old’s timetable for return depends on how the knee responds to treatment.
Suggs had just completed a two-game comeback from a left hip contusion that cost him seven games. Injuries have been a recurring issue throughout his five-season NBA tenure.
Last season, the former No. 5 overall pick appeared in only 35 games and required arthroscopic surgery in March to remove a cartilage fragment from his left knee.
Orlando began Saturday’s slate at 19-16, holding eighth place in the Eastern Conference. The club is also missing forward Franz Wagner, sidelined since Dec. 7 with a high ankle sprain.
