LOS ANGELES — Guard Luke Kennard said he takes special satisfaction in sparking the Los Angeles Lakers’ offensive sequence the team calls “the blender,” a rhythm of quick passes designed to unsettle opposing defenses.
Kennard’s willingness to keep the ball moving has earned consistent praise from both his Lakers teammates and head coach Darvin Ham. Players credited the veteran shooter for creating open looks across the floor, while Ham applauded Kennard’s decision-making and unselfish approach.
“That’s the fun part of the game for me,” Kennard said after a recent practice. “When the ball is whipping around, everyone touches it and the defense has to react. That’s when we’re at our best.”
The 27-year-old guard, known league-wide for his long-range accuracy, emphasized that the offense flows naturally when each player commits to rapid ball movement. Teammates said Kennard’s spacing and quick reads often initiate possessions that end with high-percentage shots near the rim or uncontested three-pointers.
Ham noted that Kennard’s instincts mesh with the coaching staff’s goal of playing an uptempo, share-the-ball style. “Luke is the catalyst,” the coach said. “Once he starts the blender, everybody eats.”
