The Los Angeles Lakers announced Friday that star guard Luka Doncic will miss the rest of the 2025-26 regular season after suffering a Grade 2 hamstring injury.
The team said the injury was confirmed following an MRI conducted earlier in the day. Doncic was hurt during Thursday night’s game, but the Lakers did not specify the exact play on which the strain occurred.
Los Angeles did not provide a timetable beyond the end of the regular season, which concludes in two weeks. The club said additional updates would be given “as appropriate.”
Doncic, acquired by the Lakers in a blockbuster trade last summer, is averaging 30.2 points, 8.9 rebounds and 8.3 assists in his first season with the franchise. Los Angeles entered Friday holding the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference.
Head coach Darvin Ham called Doncic’s absence “a significant loss” but added that the team will “continue to compete every night with the players we have available.”
