Los Angeles, Mar. 22, 2026 — The NBA has overturned Luka Doncic’s 16th technical foul, eliminating an automatic one-game suspension and making the Los Angeles Lakers guard eligible for Monday night’s road matchup against the Detroit Pistons.
Doncic was assessed the technical during Saturday’s win over the Orlando Magic, a call that pushed him to the league’s suspension threshold. The incident came late in the third quarter when he and Magic center Goga Bitadze exchanged words while Doncic stood at the free-throw line, resulting in a double technical.
After the game, Doncic expressed hope the ruling would be reversed, and the Lakers formally appealed to the league office. The league’s decision Sunday mirrored two earlier instances from his Dallas Mavericks tenure, when his 16th technical of the season was also rescinded.
Despite shooting 2-for-13 in the second half — including 0-for-7 from beyond the arc — Doncic finished Saturday’s contest with 33 points and eight assists. The victory extended the Lakers’ winning streak to nine games.
