The rapidly approaching trade deadlines in the NBA and NHL are forcing New York’s four major winter teams—the Knicks, Nets, Rangers and Islanders—to weigh roster decisions that could shape the remainder of their seasons.
Front-office executives across Madison Square Garden and Barclays Center, as well as at the Islanders’ UBS Arena, have only a short window left to assess needs, evaluate available talent and determine whether to buy, sell or stand pat.
While each club’s situation differs, the common thread is time: the clock is ticking, and any move—or lack of one—will soon become final once the respective league deadlines pass.
