LOS ANGELES — LeBron James sat out for the third consecutive contest on Tuesday, missing the Los Angeles Lakers’ game against the Minnesota Timberwolves because of arthritis in his left foot and a right hip contusion.
The 23-year veteran completed his usual pregame shooting session at Crypto.com Arena but, after the team walk-through, determined he needed additional treatment on the foot, head coach JJ Redick said.
This marks James’ longest absence since he missed the season’s first 14 games with sciatica affecting his lower back and right leg. Redick labeled the four-time MVP “day-to-day.” The Lakers’ next matchup is Thursday at home against the Chicago Bulls.
Forward Rui Hachimura started in James’ place. Los Angeles was also without reserve big men Maxi Kleber (lumbar strain) and Jaxson Hayes (back soreness), both late scratches.
