The Los Angeles Lakers have ruled All-Star guard Luka Doncic out for the second consecutive game, keeping him on the bench for Monday night’s meeting with the Western Conference–leading Oklahoma City Thunder.
Doncic has been out since he limped to the locker room during the second quarter of Thursday’s win over the Philadelphia 76ers. Head coach JJ Redick later described the injury as a “mild” strain of the left hamstring. The 26-year-old also missed Saturday’s victory over the Golden State Warriors.
The Lakers’ upcoming schedule includes home contests against the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday and the Dallas Mavericks—Doncic’s former team—on Thursday. The NBA All-Star Game is set for Sunday at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.
Despite the setback, Doncic earned the most fan votes in All-Star balloting, collecting more than 3.4 million to secure his sixth selection in eight NBA seasons. He currently tops the league in scoring with 32.8 points per game while also averaging 8.6 assists and 7.8 rebounds.
Injuries have limited the Slovenian star to 41 appearances this season. The Lakers are 5-4 without him, and he, LeBron James and Austin Reaves have shared the court in only 10 of the club’s 50 games.
