The Los Angeles Lakers will be without LeBron James on Tuesday night when they face the Oklahoma City Thunder, the team announced. The 41-year-old forward is dealing with soreness in his left foot, an issue he has managed throughout the season.
James logged 39 minutes in Sunday’s 134-128 loss to the Dallas Mavericks, finishing with 30 points, 15 assists and nine rebounds in the Lakers’ first game after injuries sidelined Luka Doncic (left hamstring) and Austin Reaves (left oblique) last week.
Tuesday’s contest opens a demanding stretch of three games in four nights for Los Angeles: a back-to-back on the road against the Golden State Warriors on Thursday and a home meeting with the Phoenix Suns on Friday.
With four regular-season games remaining, the Lakers sit fourth in the Western Conference, a half-game behind the Denver Nuggets but holding the head-to-head tiebreaker.
Guard Marcus Smart will also remain out versus Oklahoma City, missing his eighth straight game because of a right ankle contusion.
The Thunder have taken the first three matchups with Los Angeles this season, including a 139-96 victory in Oklahoma City last Thursday.
