Los Angeles — The Lakers are preparing to pursue Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo in a major off-season trade, according to a report published Monday by the New York Post.
Unnamed league sources told the outlet that the two-time NBA MVP is viewed inside the Lakers’ front office as “the big prize” of the upcoming summer. The franchise is expected to examine every available trade asset should Milwaukee signal any willingness to discuss a deal, the report said.
Antetokounmpo, 31, remains under contract with the Bucks but could become the focus of league-wide interest if Milwaukee opts to reshape its roster after the 2025-26 campaign. Los Angeles, already featuring LeBron James and Anthony Davis, would need to assemble a significant package of draft picks and players to meet the Bucks’ asking price, the Post noted.
The report added that the Lakers’ plans hinge on Antetokounmpo’s availability; no formal talks have been initiated, and Milwaukee has not indicated it will make the superstar forward available.
