SAN FRANCISCO — Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga practiced with the team Thursday for the first time since ending a 92-day contract standoff earlier in the week.

The 22-year-old signed a two-year, $46.8 million deal on Tuesday, locking in a significant raise over his $7.9 million qualifying offer. The agreement includes a team option on the second year and required Kuminga to waive his automatic no-trade clause, fueling speculation that the contract could position him as a trade asset once he becomes eligible to be moved in mid-January.

Speaking with local reporters after practice, Kuminga said his focus is on the upcoming season rather than future roster moves.

“I’m here now,” he said. “Everybody wants to be somewhere long term. My goal is to help us win this year.”

Kuminga and his agent, Aaron Turner, explored sign-and-trade scenarios with several clubs during the summer, including the Sacramento Kings and Phoenix Suns, before agreeing to terms with Golden State.

Head coach Steve Kerr noted that Kuminga arrived in strong physical condition despite missing voluntary workouts, including a minicamp in San Diego organized by Jimmy Butler. Kuminga participated in roughly half of Thursday’s scrimmage and acknowledged he is “a bit behind” his teammates but expects to catch up quickly.

Entering his fifth NBA season, the former No. 7 overall pick emphasized a commitment to two-way play.

“If the assignment is defense, I’ll guard the best player. If we need scoring, I’m ready for that too,” he said. “I’m open-minded to whatever helps us win games and, hopefully, a championship.”

Kuminga will wear No. 1 this season after four years in No. 00, calling the switch a “fresh start” and a nod to his high school jersey.
