NEW YORK — Karl-Anthony Towns said Tuesday he is unfazed by the ongoing speculation that the Knicks could move him before the NBA trade deadline.
Speaking after practice on Jan. 29, 2026, the All-Star center told reporters he is “fully focused on helping this team win” and is not letting outside noise affect his preparation. Towns added that he trusts the front office to handle any roster decisions.
The former No. 1 overall pick joined New York in the offseason and is averaging a double-double in his first year at Madison Square Garden. Despite his production, reports in recent weeks have linked Towns to multiple trade scenarios as teams inquire about the 30-year-old big man.
When asked how often he hears the rumors, Towns smiled and said, “It comes with the territory, but my job is to play basketball.” He emphasized that his relationship with head coach Tom Thibodeau remains strong and that he enjoys playing alongside Jalen Brunson and RJ Barrett.
The NBA trade deadline is Feb. 6, leaving New York with a little more than a week to decide whether to keep its core intact or pursue changes. For now, Towns insists he is blocking out the chatter.
