The New York Knicks may contemplate reopening trade discussions for Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, but doing so would indicate that head coach Mike Brown’s blueprint for the roster is faltering, the New York Post reported on Oct. 7, 2025.

According to the report, Brown’s strategy centers on developing the team’s existing core. Any move to pursue Antetokounmpo would effectively serve as a warning that management no longer believes that core can fulfill the coach’s vision.

The Post notes that revisiting Antetokounmpo talks would send a clear message to current players: their standing is uncertain if the organization decides it must seek outside star power to reach its goals.
