The New York Knicks reached an agreement on Feb. 5, 2026, to obtain guard Jose Alvarado from the New Orleans Pelicans just hours before the NBA’s trade deadline.
Alvarado, 27, was born in Brooklyn and starred at Christ the King High School in Queens before playing collegiately at Georgia Tech. Undrafted in 2021, he worked his way onto the Pelicans’ roster, becoming known for his relentless on-ball defense and energy off the bench.
The move brings the 6-foot guard back to his hometown while adding backcourt depth for the Knicks as they push for playoff positioning in the Eastern Conference. Details of what New York sent to New Orleans were not immediately disclosed.
Alvarado is averaging 6.8 points, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals in 14.5 minutes per game this season. He is under contract through 2027.
