NEW YORK — Rookie guard Kevin McCullar Jr. will see increased minutes for the Knicks with veteran swingman Josh Hart sidelined by injury, according to a report published Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2026.
McCullar Jr. refers to Hart as a “big brother” and says the veteran’s guidance has shaped his approach since arriving in New York. With Hart unavailable, the 23-year-old now has an opportunity to put those lessons into practice and make a case for a regular spot in the rotation.
The Knicks’ coaching staff plans to evaluate McCullar Jr.’s play during Hart’s absence, giving the rookie a chance to prove he can contribute on both ends of the floor. The team has not announced a timetable for Hart’s return.
