Forward Kevin Durant buried the decisive shot in the closing seconds of a tight contest against the Phoenix Suns, celebrating a moment he said felt especially sweet after being labeled a “scapegoat.”
Durant told reporters that recent criticism had singled him out for his club’s struggles, and that the last-second jumper served as personal vindication. “I’ve been scapegoated all year,” he said. “This one meant a lot.”
The basket capped a back-and-forth matchup that remained within one possession in the final minute. Durant created space at the top of the key, rose over a defender and knocked down the shot that ultimately sealed the win.
Suns players could only watch as the ball swished through the net. Phoenix had one final possession but failed to convert, allowing Durant and his teammates to walk off the court with a hard-earned victory.
